The Internet of Things (IoT) is a revolution in the relationship between objects and people, even between objects directly, which will connect to each other and to the network and provide real-time data to the user. The Internet of Things is about the digitization of the physical world.
The objective of the Master in Internet of Things: Applied Technologies is that the student acquires the necessary knowledge for the design, development, interconnection, programming, etc. of any product with any other around it. The aim of the IoT is to make all devices communicate with each other and, consequently, become more intelligent and autonomous. This requires the use of numerous technologies that are currently being designed by the main companies in the sector.
IoT has evolved from the convergence of wireless technologies, through micro-electro-mechanical systems, to micro-services and the Internet. These advances have helped to eliminate the boundaries between operational technology and information technology, allowing unstructured machine-generated data to be analyzed for information that drives improvements.

Application
The request is made electronically through our application. Before starting the admission process, please, read the following information:
REQUIREMENTS
The access requirements for students must be in accordance with the studies to be undertaken:
- Students of Industrial Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering and Computer Engineering who recently finished their studies and are interested in the technologies and applications of IoT, and who are also looking for professional guidance according to this technology.
- Engineers from the old degrees, who want to recycle themselves and adapt their knowledge to the technologies associated with IoT.
If necessary, the Academic Committee will establish the appropriate basic training to access the Master according to the admission profiles.
Previous professional experience is not a prerequisite, although it will be valued positively.
FORMATIVE COMPLEMENTS
Some Formative Complements have been proposed to cover the deficiencies that students from the Industrial Engineering branch (complements in Computer Science and Telematics) or from the Computer Engineering branch (complements in Signal Theory and Electronics) may have, in aspects related to communications and computer systems: Communications and IT systems in IoT (6 ECTS).
At the time of admission to the Master's program, those who must take this complement will be notified that they must register for the course and take it during the two weeks prior to the beginning of the course (check schedules here).
ADMISSION CRITERIA
The selection will be made on the basis of the following criteria:
ADMISSION CRITERIA WEIGHTING Academic record of access studies 5 Level of knowledge of other languages 1 Professional Experience 2 Motivation and recommendation letters 1 Other merits 1 ADMISSION PROFILE
As the Master is oriented to technologies, it will be focused on engineers and graduates in different engineering fields.
We can distinguish two main groups of students:
- students from Spanish (or foreign) universities, particularly from the Madrid region, who: a) have completed degrees in Industrial Engineering, b) students who have completed degrees in Telecommunications Engineering, and c) students who have completed degrees in Computer Engineering.
- professionals related to the industrial and service sectors who need to update their knowledge in order to implement the technologies associated with the Internet of Things.
Language requirements
Check the general language requirements required to study a Master’s at UC3M, depending on whether it is in Spanish, English or bilingual.
students with foreign university degrees
Once admitted to the Master’s, students with university degrees issued by a higher education institution belonging to an educational system outside the EHEA, must provide, for enrolment, the diploma, legalized by diplomatic procedures or by means of The Hague Apostille. They must also submit the transcript of records, with the grade point average, duly legalized.
More information about Legalization of Foreign Documents.
If needed, documents must be accompanied by an official sworn translation into Spanish.
