    The Carlos III-Juan March Institute of Social Sciences (IC3JM) offers a two-year, official Master of Social Sciences, run entirely in English. It corresponds to 120 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System). It is a Master of excellence, interdisciplinary, with a strong emphasis on methodology, and academically demanding.

    The goal of the Master is to train students to do solid and rigorous research in the core topics of the Social Sciences from comparative, historical and quantitative perspectives. The Master offers courses on sociological analysis, social stratification, comparative politics, international relations, economic history, political economy, game theory, statistics and research design.

    The faculty consists of members of the IC3JM, the Department of Social Sciences, and the Departments of Economics and Statistics of the Carlos III University as well as visiting professors (leading scholars who are invited to teach a course in the Master).

      Application

      The request is made electronically through our application. Before starting the admission process it is important to consult the supporting information that we offer below:

      Requirements

      In accordance with art. 16 of Royal Decree 1393/2007, as amended by Royal Decree 861/2010, to be admitted to the Master of Social Sciences will be necessary to hold a Spanish university degree or another issued by an institution of higher education of the European Higher Education Area superior (EEES) empower access to postgraduate studies.

      Priority will be given to graduate students in social studies and legal (political science, sociology, economics, history, law), but the door is left open access to any graduate long as you have the motivation and adequate capacity.

      All students must enroll previous Complement learning in Mathematics and Statistics that are indicated in the program (4 ECTS). When the previous studies make not necessary to take them, the student must request the validation of that credits by the usual procedure of Recognition of credits.

       

      Admission criteria

      Admission to the program will be based on the decision of the academic staff, who will assess the potential of each candidate based on their:

      • Motivation and merits provided in the required documentation,

      If the Committee considers it appropriate, a personal or electronic interview may be carried out.

      Language requirements

      You can check the language requirements of the generic language required to study for a Master at UC3M, depending on whether it is in Spanish, English or bilingual.

      students with foreign university degrees

      Once admitted to the Master, students with university degrees issued by a higher education institution belonging to an educational system outside the EEES, must provide, for enrollment, the diploma, legalized by diplomatic procedures or “The Hague Convention Apostille”. They must also submit the transcript of records, with the grade point average, duly legalized.

      If needed, documents must be accompanied by an official sworn translation into Spanish.

      Additional information

      • You can register on the Master’s degree program when you have finished the application admission process and you have received your acceptance.
      • When performing the enrollment you can choose between  Full-time enrollment or Part-time enrollment.
      • The email address which the University provides to the student upon enrollment will be used principally for communications with said student. For this reason, it is essential that it be actualized and periodically consulted.
      • Failure to make payment shall result in non-admission or termination of enrollment according to that established by the University. In case of annulment of registration because of failure to make payment, Universities can demand payment for previous enrollment in earlier academic years as a previous condition for enrollment.
        Universities shall not issue a diploma or certificate when a student has payments of any kind pending.

    UC3M SCHOLARSHIPS FOR THE YEAR 2018/2019

    The UC3M announces 3 grants for the payment of academic fees for academic years 2018-19 and 2019-20, aimed at new students entering the Master in Social Sciences.

    To apply for the aid it is necessary to have completed the application for admission to the Master.


    Application deadline: 31st May 2018.

    Complete uc3m study aids for the ACADEMIC year 2018/2019

    CALL M02-1819 │ RESOLVED

    The Carlos III University of Madrid announces 3 full grants to study the Master in Social Sciences in the academic year 2018/2019, which gives access to doctoral programs of the UC3M. The full aid will include the corresponding academic fees, as well as a monthly allowance of € 909.00 gross.

    To apply for the aid it is necessary to have made the application for admission to the Master. Once the notification of admission is received, the student must pay the place reservation within the established deadlines (if the student is finally awarded, the amount of the reservation will be refunded).

    TWO JUAN MARCH SERVERA SCHOLARSHIPS FOR THE MASTER IN SOCIAL SCIENCES OF THE CARLOS III-JUAN MARCH INSTITUTE OF THE CARLOS III UNIVERSITY

    The Juan March Servera Chair of the IC3JM (created in the agreement between the Carlos III University of Madrid and the Juan March Foundation) offers two full scholarships Juan March Servera for the Master in Social Sciences of the Carlos III-Juan March Institute of Social Sciences (IC3JM).

    Two Juan March Servera scholarships are offered, with a duration of two years and with a stipend of 15,000 euros (gross) per year. The second year stipend may be cancelled if the student fails to pass one or more courses during the first year of the Master.


    ☛ The deadline for the application process is April 9th, 2018.
     

    Eligible students are those who graduated after January 1st 2015 or who are finishing their degrees during the current academic year (2017/18).

    Those interested in applying for the scholarships have to register in the Master and send an e-mail to secretaria@march.uc3m.es stating your interest in the scholarships.
