The Carlos III-Juan March Institute of Social Sciences (IC3JM) offers a two-year, official Master of Social Sciences, run entirely in English. It corresponds to 120 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System). It is a Master of excellence, interdisciplinary, with a strong emphasis on methodology, and academically demanding.
The goal of the Master is to train students to do solid and rigorous research in the core topics of the Social Sciences from comparative, historical and quantitative perspectives. The Master offers courses on sociological analysis, social stratification, comparative politics, international relations, economic history, political economy, game theory, statistics and research design.
The faculty consists of members of the IC3JM, the Department of Social Sciences, and the Departments of Economics and Statistics of the Carlos III University as well as visiting professors (leading scholars who are invited to teach a course in the Master).

Requirements
In accordance with the Royal Decree 822/2021 of 28 September 2021, to be admitted to the Master of Social Sciences will be necessary to hold a Spanish university degree or another issued by an institution of higher education of the European Higher Education Area superior (EEES) empower access to postgraduate studies.
Priority will be given to graduate students in social studies and legal (political science, sociology, economics, history, law), but the door is left open access to any graduate long as you have the motivation and adequate capacity.
FORMATIVE COMPLEMENTSAll students must enroll in the formative complements in Mathematics for the Social Sciences (3 ECTS) and Basic Statistics (3 ECTS) that are indicated in the Program since they are part of the study plan of the degree. Subsequently, students may request, where appropriate, the recognition of said credits.
Admission criteria
Admission to the program will be based on the decision of the academic staff, who will assess the potential of each candidate based on their:

students with foreign university degrees
Once admitted to the Master’s, students with university degrees issued by a higher education institution belonging to an educational system outside the EHEA, must provide, for enrolment, the diploma, legalized by diplomatic procedures or by means of The Hague Apostille. They must also submit the transcript of records, with the grade point average, duly legalized.

If needed, documents must be accompanied by an official sworn translation into Spanish.

- it will be paid once the student receives notification of admission to the master’s, and deducted from the first tuition payment
- the reservation fee will only be refunded if the master program is cancelled
62 ECTS in the first academic year:
- EU students: €2,791.24 (€45.02/ECTS credit)
- Non EU students: €5,212.34 (€84.07/ECTS credit)
NOTE: The enrolment fees do not include the cost of issuing the master’s degree certificate.

- You may enrol on the master’s degree after completing the admission process and receiving formal confirmation of your acceptance.
- When performing the enrolment you can choose between Full-time enrolment or Part-time enrolment.
- The email address provided upon enrolment will be used for formal communications; students are therefore kindly requested to check their mail regularly.
- Pursuant to the regulations of the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, a student failing to pay any part of the fees will not be admitted and the enrolment process will be terminated. In cases of cancellation of enrolment due to non-payment, the University may demand the payment of the pending amounts for enrolment in previous academic courses as a prior condition of enrolment.
No diploma or certificate will be issued if a student has any outstanding payments.

UC3M Scholarships for the Year 2022/2023

The UC3M announces 3 scholarships for the payment of academic fees for academic years 2022-23 and 2023-24, aimed at new students entering the Master in Social Sciences.
To apply, you must have completed the application for admission to the Master’s.

UC3M FULL SCHOLARSHIPS TO THE MASTER'S STUDY FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2022/2023 │ RESOLVED

The Carlos III University of Madrid announces 5 full scholarships to study the Master in Social Sciences in the academic year 2022/2023, which gives access to doctoral programs of the UC3M.
The University also includes 5 full scholarships for people with disabilities equal or greater than 33%, which will be assigned among the Master's Degree programs listed in Annex II of this call, which includes this Master's Degree program. In this case, it will be an essential requirement to prove such degree of disability.
The full scholarship will include the corresponding academic fees, as well as an annual allowance of € 11,500.To apply for the scholarship it is necessary to have made the application for admission to the Master. Once the notification of admission is received, the student must pay the place reservation within the established deadlines (if the student is finally awarded, the amount of the reservation will be refunded).

SCHOLARSHIPS FROM THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION 2022/2023
General scholarships for official Master's Degree students for the 2022-2023 academic year.

Application deadline extended until May 16, 2022. - The application must be completed using the form accessible online through the Sede electrónica or at www.educacionyfp.gob.es.
ECB Scholarship for Women 2022/2023
For the 2022-2023 academic year, the ECB is offering grants of €10,000 each to 15 female students who are enrolled, or are about to enrol, in a master’s course. The scholarships cover four fields of study: economics, statistics, engineering and computing.
The call offers, among other benefits:
- grants of €10,000 each
- a one-week study visit to the ECB
Application deadline: from May 4 to 25, 2022
The application must be made online through the ECB website, attaching the documentation established in the call for applications.
