MASTER IN TELECOMMUNICATIONS ENGINEERING MASTER IN BIG DATA ANALYTICS The UC3M offers you the possibility of jointly studying the Master in Telecommunications Engineering, along with the Master in Big Data Analytics. The former allows you to acquire the training to practice as a Telecommunications Engineer. This study option means you will obtain a high level of specialization and research training that will put you in prime position regarding employment and / or access to Ph.D. studies.
VERSIONS
Two versions of the Master in Telecommunications Engineering are offered: a bilingual version taught on the Madrid-Puerta de Toledo Campus and a Spanish version taught on the Leganés Campus.
Students may select whichever one of the two versions they wish to follow during the admissions process. This choice only affects the first course.
The Master in Big Data Analytics is taught in English in Madrid-Puerta de Toledo Campus.
Master in Telecommunications Engineering
The Master in Telecommunications Engineering is a professional Master to replace the Telecommunications Engineering undergraduate degree and enables you to practice as a Telecommunications Engineer, under the provisions of Order CIN / 355/2009 of 9th February.
The Spanish Association of Engineers requires professionals, from companies in the telecommunications field (major manufacturers of telecommunications equipment or telephone service providers) and from other companies, institutions or organizations that need qualified personnel to design and maintain their own telecommunications systems.
The overall aim of the Master in Telecommunications Engineering is to train professionals who are competent to practice as Telecommunications Engineers. The Master is geared towards advanced training and enhancing employability
Master in Big Data Analytics
Our Master program is oriented towards the training of people interested in working in data analytics, and in particular of analytics involving the evaluation of very large volumes of data in companies and organizations. Master’s students, either recently graduated or professionals, will receive both additional formation in the basic foundations of the analytics methods used for Big Data, and familiarity with their potential applications in different areas of interest.
Particular emphasis will be placed on the use of applications based on analytic languages such as R and Python. The courses will also introduce data storage and processing paradigms such as MapReduce or noSQL, and their implementations (Hadoop, Storm, Spark, etc...), as well as cloud storing and computing methodologies. This knowledge will prepare them to handle large data sets and to conduct complex statistical and computational analysis of these data, to obtain results in pattern identification, prediction, forecasting, simulation or optimization, relevant for the improvement of the efficiency in the activities of companies and organizations.
As an illustration of this potential demand, the French government expects that the needs for professionals with these qualifications during the coming five years on the whole of the EU will be in excess of 300,000 persons. In Spain, the use of these techniques is expected to increase by at least 300% in the next three years.
