The Master in Legal Practice and Representation organized by Universidad Carlos III de Madrid aims to ensure that graduates of the course receive the appropriate training which will enable them to successfully complete the assessment examinations for practicing the profession of law, following an external work placement carried out with a number of top law firms. To this end, the Master is oriented to matters related to legal advisory services to business, matching profile with professional practice offices that sponsor it.
The work developed by the University Carlos III of Madrid for the organization of the Master has counted from its beginnings with the collaboration of the most prestigious law firms whose senior lawyers teach and act as tutors to students during their work placement as part of the master's course supported by the Agreement entered into for this purpose with the Madrid Bar Association.
Despite the fact that the Master's degree places considerable emphasis on subjects relating to legal advisory services to business, the number and varied nature of the law firms collaborating on the course facilitates the possibility of work placement in other areas.
NOTICE
Following the reforms introduced by Law 15/2021, of October 23, amending Law 34/2006, of October 30, on access to the professions of Lawyer and Attorney of the Courts and limitations on public prices of the qualifying Masters, approved by the General Conference on University Policy, in order to maintain the quality of the teachings, a new configuration of the optional subjects included in the curriculum of the Masters has been agreed, so that:
i) Starting with the edition of the Master's Degree that will begin in September 2022, only 7/8 elective subjects will be offered, aimed at improving the training of students in corporate legal advice, in which the law firms that maintain a special collaboration and contribute to the financing of their own program of study aids work as a priority.
ii) Starting with the edition of the Master's Degree that will begin in March 2023, elective subjects will be taken exclusively in the specialization Master's Degree in which each student is enrolled.

[+] information - CURRICULUM
- SEPTEMBER EDITION
The syllabus is based on a compulsory module with a total of 39 credits. 15 optional credits are added to this module, enabling students to gain an in-depth knowledge of different aspects of law. The syllabus also includes 30 credits obtained through external work practice under the guidance of tutors designed to ensure that students achieve the skills and abilities needed to exercise the profession of law. Finally, students will be required to carry out a final dissertation which is equal to 6 ECTS.
The Master is face-to-face: it requires attendance to all classes (including mandatory supplementary activities) and the absence of more than 10 percent of the sessions per subject will have an impact on grades.
Signatures control will be carried out to verify the compliance of the attendance to the classes. The falsification of the signature, the improper signature or any similar incident will suppose at least, the loss of the totality of the continuous evaluation of the subject in question, as much in the ordinary announcement, as in the extraordinary one, and according to the gravity of the facts, the loss of the right to take the exam (in any of its calls) for the corresponding subject and, in accordance with the current academic discipline regulations, the expulsion of the Master.
Note: In view of the first transitory provision of Law 15/2021, of October 23, amending Law 34/2006, of October 30, on access to the professions of Lawyer and Court Attorney, it is not currently possible to guarantee the examination model that will be used once the training courses of the master's degree have been completed from the 18th edition onwards.Year 1 - Semester 1

In accordance with Royal Decree 889/2022, of October 18, establishing the conditions and procedures for the homologation, equivalence and validation of university degrees from foreign educational systems and regulating the procedure to establish the correspondence to the level of the Spanish Qualifications Framework for Higher Education of official university degrees from previous academic systems, all foreign students wishing to take the Master's Degree in Legal Practice and Representation, whether or not they are European, must meet with the requirements and procedure established in the said Regulation.
On this website of the Ministerio de Universidades you will find all the relevant information.
This is a procedure that is completely alien to the Master's Degree in Legal Practice and Representation, which may force students to study at a University in addition to those they already possess. In accordance with Order PRA/696/2017, of 25 July, students with a foreign degree must have the homologation of the degree at the time of being admitted to the master's degree. Without this homologation, the student will not be able to apply for enrolment in the official entrance examination for the practice of law, which is organised by the Ministry of Justice.

- ACTIVITIES
The methodology of the master's degree is based on the approach to the reality of professional practice, through simulations and negotiation exercises carried out in the classrooms by teams selected for this purpose, both in the development of some subjects, mainly electives, and through additional activities. Among these activities developed in the last editions, the following may be mentioned:
- The art of negotiation UC3M and ISDE, by Pérez Llorca Abogados. Two teams of students, from the UC3M Access Master's Degree and the Access Course at ISDE Barcelona, face the negotiation of a simulated transaction of purchase and sale of a company with various contingencies, each team representing a party to the contract. To this end, the terms of the transaction are analyzed and successive sessions are held from the two sites in Madrid and Barcelona for the closing of the corresponding contract.
- Legal Performance, by Hogan Lovells.
Music for lawyers in three acts, in which an exercise of advice to record companies for the development of web portals is practiced. Based on a case, legal advice is simulated for a client whose objective is to develop activities in the digital environment. The different ways of implementing the collaboration between the different operators involved, the aspects related to intellectual property and data protection, among others, are addressed. The international nature of the exercise means that it is conducted, at least in part, in English. - Simulation of a General Shareholders' Meeting.
Students receive information to represent the different interests involved in the meeting of a company facing different conflicts. The meeting is convened, its celebration is simulated, as well as the adoption of resolutions.
The type of exercises and the offices involved may vary in each edition of the Master.
