The Master in Informatics Engineering (Computer Engineering) prepares students to practice as a Computer Engineer and is fully adapted to the recommendations for recognition of official qualifications in the Informatics Engineering Profession, General Secretariat of Universities (BOE 4 August 2009).
The Master is appropriate for Informatics Engineering graduates or degrees with other denominations, linked to the exercise of the profession of Informatics Engineer, and whose competences are in accordance with what is established in section 5 of Annex II of the BOE N.187, (August 4, 2009).
For this, the Master in Informatics Engineering combines advanced training in aspects of Direction and Management of IT projects with other aspects of Information Technology. It also includes an offer of electives and the possibility of external internships in companies and institutions.
This training program aims to fulfil its objective by training professionals who are competent to practice as computer engineers.
The Master is made up of 90 ECTS credits. A group taught in Spanish is offered, divided into three semesters and organized into the following modules: Direction and Management, Information Technology, Electives and Master's Thesis.

Requirements
The following candidates may be admitted to the Master in Informatics Engineering from the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid:
- Graduates holding Bachelor's Degrees in Informatics Engineering with any specialty (Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or Information Technology).
- Graduates holding Bachelor's Degrees Informatics Engineering who, although they have not specialized in one of the areas mentioned above, can provide evidence to prove completion of the foundational training and modules usual for this course of study. If they still have not covered an entire block of the specific technology module, they could enter with 48 credits from those offered in the blocks for that module.
- Graduates with university degrees in Engineering.
- Graduates in Computer Science/ Informatics Engineering (five-year course: Licenciados).
- Computer Science/ Informatics Engineering graduates (three-year course: Ingeniero Técnicos and Diplomados)
Admission criteria
Student selection will be based on the applicant's CV. Specifically, we will consider the following aspects:
- The applicant's academic record.
- Applicant's professional experience in the Computer Engineering field.
- Any letters of support and academic or professional references vouching for the applicant's admission to the Master. (Applicant must provide two reference letters).
In the event that the course is oversubscribed due to high demand, personal interviews with candidates may be conducted
Language requirements
Check the general language requirements required to study a Master’s at UC3M, depending on whether it is in Spanish, English or bilingual.
students with foreign university degrees
Once admitted to the Master’s, students with university degrees issued by a higher education institution belonging to an educational system outside the EHEA, must provide, for enrolment, the diploma, legalized by diplomatic procedures or by means of The Hague Apostille. They must also submit the transcript of records, with the grade point average, duly legalized.

Additional information
- You may enrol on the master’s degree after completing the admission process and receiving formal confirmation of your acceptance.
- When performing the enrolment you can choose between Full-time enrolment or Part-time enrolment.
- The email address provided upon enrolment will be used for formal communications; students are therefore kindly requested to check their mail regularly.
- Pursuant to the regulations of the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, a student failing to pay any part of the fees will not be admitted and the enrolment process will be terminated. In cases of cancellation of enrolment due to non-payment, the University may demand the payment of the pending amounts for enrolment in previous academic courses as a prior condition of enrolment.
No diploma or certificate will be issued if a student has any outstanding payments.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT ACADEMIC YEAR 2020/21
The Master in Informatics Engineering will be taught ON CAMPUS.
Exceptionally, students must attend in a Synchronous Online Teaching system the sessions that may be determined to ensure the prevention and social distancing measures in classrooms. All students must have the necessary equipment to follow classes remotely (device with internet connection and webcam. See Student’s Guide). Due to the restrictions in the use of computer rooms on Campus it may be necessary to take your own computer equipment for its use in the classroom.
UC3M has a laptop loan program for students who need it. - CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
After acquiring all the skills set out for the Master's Degree in Computer Science, students will be able to work in any company in the sector and also carry out teaching duties and research.
Students' training will establish them as professionals with advanced experience that will meet the expectations of the workplace, academia and research using their skills and solid training. The training students receive will prepare them to establish themselves as part of an environment as rapidly changing as the information technology environment, not only at the time they first start working for a company or administration, but also in the future.
By the end of the program, students will have the skills to be able to:

- Employ a combination of general and specialized computer engineering knowledge in order to optimize application of existing and emerging technologies.
