IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT ACADEMIC YEAR 2020/21
The Master in Finance will be taught next academic year 2020/21 partly Synchronous Online Teaching combining with on Campus* small classes to ensure the prevention and social distancing measures in classrooms. The schedule will be published shortly under the “Practical Information” tab.
All students must have the necessary equipment to follow classes remotely (device with internet connection and webcam. See Student’s Guide). Due to the restrictions in the use of computer rooms on Campus it may be necessary to take your own computer equipment for its use in the classroom.
UC3M has a laptop loan program for students who need it.
*Students who cannot attend to on Campus classes, due to difficulties or delays obtaining their visas, border closures, or similar issues, will be able to follow classes in a Synchronous Online Teaching system until they are able to arrive to on Campus classes.The MSc in Finance is a one-year full-time official programme of the highest quality. It is currently ranked among the best Masters in Finance in the world by both the Financial Times and best-masters.com.
Our graduates develop their careers in investment banking, financial boutiques, private equity and financial departments in non-financial entities. Students are allowed to do internships after the third term for a maximum of 9-months. In the past editions students found employment in top companies as: Moodys, Deutsche Bank, BNP Paribas, CNMV, KPMG, Deloitte, BBVA, Santander Bank, Credit Suisse, Sabadell Bank, Repsol, Endesa, JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, UBS, among others.
The programme has exchange agreements with top universities in Europe (Tilburg University, Humboldt Universitat and Maastricht University) and America (The City University of New York or EAFIT) enabling study abroad for some additional courses.
CAIA and GARP Academic Parter. The program covers specific contents aligned with CAIA and FRM certification exams.

The Master’s is taught over a 11-month period and it is organized in four 7-week terms. The 60 ECTS programme consists of compulsory (30 ECTS) and elective courses (24 ECTS) plus an End-of-Master project (6 ECTS) where the student specializes in a particular topic under the guidance of one of our academic experts. Prior to official beginning of classes, in early September, there are some compulsory preparatory courses. The elective courses are designed so that students can specialize in the particular aspects of finance that are best suited to enhance his/her career.

In this first term, the elective courses are established by the Academic Committee to ensure all students get a basic and homogeneous knowledge in Accounting, Computer Tools (Matlab) and Macroeconomics. Students with a Bachelor in Economics must choose Financial Accounting and Computer Tools. Mathematicians or engineer must choose Financial Accounting and Macroeconomics, and students coming from Business Studies must select Macroeconomics and Computer Tools.Master's Thesis: 6 ECTS

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree. Foreign applicants must possess an equivalent degree (three or more years of university studies) from an official university. Students in the last year of their Bachelor’s studies may also apply for admission; their application will be considered upon confirmation that they have successfully completed their Bachelor’s programme.
Admission criteria
Admission will be decided by the Master’s Academic Committee. Candidate selection will be done on the basis of the following criteria:
- Academic Excellence: Successful applicants will have excellent bachelor degree results and the appropriate education to make the most of the programme. The Committee value the presentation of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) results, as evidences in candidates’ quality.
- Curriculum Vitae, aims for the future and, if required, personal interview.
Admission Profile
The student profile of this Master in Finance is any individual with a Bachelor’s or Degree in Economics or Business Administration (with a quantitative profile) or in Statistics, Mathematics or Engineering and whose goal is to work in the financial industry. It must be a person with intellectual curiosity, knowledge of English, and quantitative skills.

Since English is the official language of the programme, a high level of written and spoken English is required. This knowledge can be accredited with the results of an official C1 English diploma (CEFR) including evaluation of the 4 areas: listening, reading, speaking and writing. As a general rule, the following minimum scores for other certificates are required:
- TOEFL (iBT): 95-120
- IELTS: 7.0 - 8.0
- Cambridge ESOL: Certificate in Advanced English (CAE)
- TOIEC (Four skills): 1096 - 1345
- Linguaskill: minimum of 185
The language requirements will not be required to those students whose mother tongue is English or students who have completed their undergraduate studies in English, upon presentation of the relevant documentation.
students with foreign university degrees
Once admitted to the Master’s, students with university degrees issued by a higher education institution belonging to an educational system outside the EHEA, must provide, for enrolment, the diploma, legalized by diplomatic procedures or by means of The Hague Apostille. They must also submit the transcript of records, with the grade point average, duly legalized.

If needed, documents must be accompanied by an official sworn translation into Spanish.

Reservation fee: €1,500
- it will be paid once the student receives notification of admission to the master’s, and deducted from the first tuition payment
- the reservation fee will only be refunded if the master program is cancelled
60 ECTS in the first academic year:
- EU students: €9,000 (€150/ECTS credit)
- Non EU students: €13,500 (€225/ECTS credit)
NOTE: The enrolment fees do not include the cost of issuing the master’s degree certificate.

- You may enrol on the master’s degree after completing the admission process and receiving formal confirmation of your acceptance.
- When performing the enrolment you can choose between Full-time enrolment or Part-time enrolment.
- The email address provided upon enrolment will be used for formal communications; students are therefore kindly requested to check their mail regularly.
- Pursuant to the regulations of the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, a student failing to pay any part of the fees will not be admitted and the enrolment process will be terminated. In cases of cancellation of enrolment due to non-payment, the University may demand the payment of the pending amounts for enrolment in previous academic courses as a prior condition of enrolment.
No diploma or certificate will be issued if a student has any outstanding payments.

CALL AM01-21/22 *
For the academic year 2021-2022 a call has been published for a maximum of 8 grants for payment of the net enrolment fees for students accepted into the Master’s, with the following provision:
- 8 grants of € 4,500, € 3,000 or € 1,500
To apply, you must have completed the application for admission to the Master’s.

Our students are allowed to do internships after they finished the third term. In previous editions more than 90% of students attained an internship completely related to finance in top institutions such as: BNP Paribas (Investment banking, M&A), Credit Suisse (risk management), BBVA (fixed income trading, forex market), Santander Bank (risk management, Portfolio management), Moodys (banking analyst), CNMV, Repsol, among others.

STUDYING IN MADRID AND NEW YORK (12 months in Madrid + 6 months in New York)
After finishing the regular program in Madrid, students can apply to extend their education in Baruch College (The City University of New York) in USA. The students will specialize in some courses related with Entrepreneurship.
STUDYING IN COLOMBIA AND MADRID (Double degree EAFIT+Uc3m)
Students from EAFIT (Colombia, Maestría en Administración de Empresas) can achieve a double degree (Maestría en Administración de Empresas & MSc in Finance) studying some courses in Uc3m (Madrid). Our students are also allowed to study in EAFIT (Colombia).
STUDYING IN TWO UNIVERSITIES IN EUROPE (12 months in Uc3m + 4-6 months other top University)
This program extension is included in the Erasmus Exchange Program. Our students can apply to extend their education in another prestigious university. Our students can chose among the following institutions:

Official recognition
Students receive formal recognition for their academic study period abroad in the transcript of records and in the degree certificate.
Admission
Interested students must request admission to the International Program to the Master’s direction at the end of the second term. The admission to the program will be decided by the Master’s direction on the basis of the academic excellence, as measured in terms of the average mark of the first and second term of the regular master program. There are a limited number of places available.
After being admitted into the International Complement program, the enrolment application and fees for any subject in our partner universities will be managed directly from Universidad Carlos III.
The University will offer scholarships for all the students admitted to the program, awarded on the basis of academic excellence/record within the Master’s.
