Language Requirements

Below are the minimum levels for master's degrees languages listed. Some programs require higher levels of languages on its website.

 

  

MASTERS TAUGHT IN SPANISH

Students who do not have Spanish as their first language must demonstrate a sufficient level of knowledge of the language, spoken and written, through the Spanish Diploma for Foreign Language (DELE), granted by the Instituto Cervantes on behalf of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports of Spain. It is also admitted the diploma issued by the Servicio Internacional de Evaluación de la Lengua Española (SIELE GLOBAL). The minimum level required for admission will be the B2 (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).

Language requirements shall not be required to those students who have completed their undergraduate studies in Spanish in a Spanish-speaking country, upon presentation of the relevant documentation.

Students who have completed their university studies in Spanish Philology, Hispanic Studies or degrees similar in a non-English speaking country, and have no evidence of fulfilling the DELE B2 level will have to do an interview with the Director of the Master to evaluate their language skills in Spanish. Students who do not possess the DELE B2 level, but have obtained some of these degrees in China may be exempted by the Direction of the Master of this type of interview if they have the Spanish as Specialty Test Level 4 (EEE 4).

MASTERS TAUGHT IN ENGLISH

Since English is the official language of the program, a high level of knowledge of written and spoken English is required. This knowledge can be credited with the results of an official B2 English diploma including evaluation of the 4 areas: listening, reading, speaking and writing as, for example, the TOEFL, IELTS or Cambridge ESOL.

As a general rule, the following minimum scores are required:

  • TOEFL (iBT): 72 - 94
  • IELTS: 5.5 - 6.5
  • Cambridge ESOL: Certificate of English (FCE)
  • Linguaskill: 160 - 179
  • Common European Framework (Languages): Level B2
  • Aptis: Level B2

The language requirements will not be required to those students whose mother tongue is English or students who have completed their university degree fully in English, upon presentation of the relevant documentation.

Bandera España-Reino Unido - requisito idioma bilingue

BILINGUAL MASTERS

Those students whose native language is not Spanish, must prove their knowledge, spoken and written at a level equal to or higher than B2 DELE (Diploma of Spanish as a foreign language) issued by the Instituto Cervantes or the B2 SIELE GLOBAL issued by the Servicio Internacional de Evaluación de la Lengua Española.

Those students whose first language is not English must demonstrate a level of knowledge, spoken and written at a level equal to or higher than B2 according to the European framework of reference for languages as, for example, with the FCE (First Certificate in English).
