Principles and values

Principios y valores

Open, transparent and merit-based recruitment, known as the OTM-R policy, is one of the cornerstones of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers, as well as of the University's Human Resources strategy. Faculty selection processes are carried out on the basis of a public competition in which a number of principles are guaranteed:

  • EQUALITY

    Equal opportunities and non-discrimination

Among the principles governing European policy is the principle of equality, non-discrimination and gender balance.

This objective must be achieved on the basis of a policy of equal opportunities in recruitment and subsequent career stages without, however, overriding criteria of quality and competence. In order to ensure equal treatment, selection and evaluation committees must have an appropriate balance between men and women.

  • MERIT AND CAPACITY

     Merit and capacity

Employers should implement recruitment procedures that are open, efficient, transparent, convenient and internationally comparable, as well as adapted to the advertised positions. Candidates should be assessed on the basis of merit and ability.

This is done by seeking the best match between the candidate's profile and the profile of the job offered through a combination of CV analysis and possible interviews, through which evidence of the candidate's competencies is sought, as well as against previous professional experience.

  • PROFESSIONALISM

    Professionalism

All selection processes have Selection Committees composed of members who will act in accordance with the principles set out in the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers, respecting the principle of impartiality and ensuring equal treatment without discrimination of any kind in the exercise of their duties.

  • TRANSPARENCY AND PUBLICITY

    Transparency and publicity

Candidates must be informed of the reception of their application through the publication of the lists of admitted candidates on the University's Employment website, as well as of the development of the process in its different phases and the final result of the selection process.
