4/8/22
The Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) ranks highly in 11 academic fields in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2022. This year, it appears among the top 50 universities in the world in Library Science and Information Management, and among the top 100 in Social Sciences and Management, Accounting and Finance, Economics and Econometrics, and Law and Legal Studies.
UC3M ranks within the 100-200 best in the world in six academic fields: Management and Business, Computer Science and Information Systems, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics and Statistics and Operational Research. In addition, it ranks among the 250 best higher education institutions in Sociology.
This study takes four major factors into account: the university's academic reputation, its reputation in the business world, the average number of citations that its research staff's scientific publications have received in the last 5 years; and the “h-index”, which measures both the quantity (productivity) and the quality (impact) of the research activity. To do this, around 14 million scientific articles have been analysed, which have generated nearly 81 million citations, and the results of surveys conducted with approximately 100,000 academics have been taken into account, in addition to the views of approximately 50,000 employers.
Prepared by the British consulting firm Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), this world ranking evaluates the performance of 15,200 programmes offered by 1,543 universities in 88 countries. The 2022 edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject, published annually since 2011, focuses on a total of 51 academic disciplines.
