About the courses
The language courses for senior citizens are designed for people who intend to learn a foreign language just for personal gratification, that is, without any professional or academic aspiration, to round off their personal education in a situation where they can share interests and life experiences. We offer English, and Italian language courses.
Classes are run starting from specific topics and situations. The emphasis is placed on improving comprehension and expression skills, without neglecting vocabulary building, expression learning and the use of grammar. The classroom atmosphere is open-minded and participative.
Objectives
- To establish solid foundations for the language.
- To consolidate and expand the vocabulary related to the topics covered in class.
- To gain fluency, accuracy and precision in the oral expression.
- To improve pronunciation.
Registration and fees
Fees for each term
Former foreign language students and students enrolled in the University's programme for Senior Citizens in current academic year: 215€
Students from outside the University community: 250€
Campus:
- Getafe, Puerta de Toledo and Colmenarejo
Timetable:
- Beginner level: Wednesday, 10:00 - 13:15
- Other levels: Monday, 10:00 - 13:15
Course dates 2nd semester 2025/2026:
- Monday Groups: January 12 to March 16, 2026
- Wednesday Groups: January 14 to March 18, 2026
Calendar:
Registration period for the 2nd semester 2025/2026: November 24 to December 10, 2025
Registration procedure:
- Fill in the REGISTRATION FORM
- If you have previous knowlegde of the language, take the PLACEMENT TEST to determine which course you can take. You will find the link of the test after submitting the enrollment form. In addition, during the registration period an oral test will be held by appointment.

Conditions to create a class group
The creation of class groups depends on the number of students enrolled on each of them. The minimum number of students to form groups is 9.

Information about French courses
In collaboration with the Alliance Française de Madrid, the Language Center is offering French courses for seniors. The are aimed at people who want to learn the language for fun with neither academic nor professional pressure, and enjoy the process in a relaxed and enriching setting. They are designed for people who wish to stay active, stimulate their minds and share interests and experiences with classmates in a friendly atmosphere that promotes participation.
The course is based on practical situations and topics of general interest to strengthen oral expression and linguistic improvement in all aspects: always adapted to the needs and rhythm of the group, you will work on vocabulary, day to day expressions and essential grammar aspects.
Format and levels
The courses are delivered face-to-face, supporting interaction and learning.
Levels on offer:
- A1 (beginner)
- B1 (intermediate)
- B2 (upper-intermediate)
Objectives
- Establish a solid base and working basic working knowledge of French.
- Expand your vocabulary for daily matters and topics covered in class.
- Develop your listening comprehension skills.
- Gain confidence and fluency when communicating.
- Enjoy learning in a stimulating and social environment.
- Improve your oral expression and pronunciation. (dos sobre speaking)

Procedure
If you already have some knowledge of French:
- Complete a WRITTEN LEVEL TEST.
- Then, the Alliance Française will contact you by phone to complete an oral test.
- Once both level tests have been completed, you will receive information about the level that corresponds to you.
If you have no knowledge of French:
- Contact the Alliance Française by emailing alumnosuc3m@afmadrid.net.
- They will inform you of the steps to complete the registration.
Everyone who registers for a course will receive an email from the Alliance Française once the registration period has closed.
