Online semester courses

Levels

All levels and sub-levels from A1 to C2 are offered, provided there is a sufficient number of students enrolled in the level. Interested students must first take an online placement test for that purpose.

Schedule

Duration: 40 teaching hours (exam included) distributed as follows:

  • Live lessons with the teacher and classmates.
  • Live interactive forum.
  • Oral practice.

All of the course hours will be with a teacher.

Monday and Wednesday groups: from October 2 to December 9, 2024

Tuesday and Thursday groups: from October 1 to December 5, 2024

Dates and timetables - one day a week:

Saturday groups: from September 28 to December 14, 2024 (10 sessions of 4 hours)

This is the course

The online and blended learning courses offered by the Centro de Idiomas have the same communicative focus as our face-to-face courses and work on all of the language competences, oral as well as written.

Sessions streamed in real-time ensure interaction with the teacher and with classmates.

All of the autonomous activities are always carried out under the guidance of teacher, who provides correction and continuous feedback to help student progress in their language acquisition.

Registration

Registration period 1ºC 2024/2025: from August 26 to September 18, 2024

  • If you have previous knowledge of English, take the PLACEMENT TEST to determine which course you can take. At the end of the test, you will obtain the final score and the link to the enrollment form.
  • If you do not have previous knowlegde of English, contact the Language Center
  • All registrants will receive an email from the Language Centre after the registration period has ended.
  • Objectives
    • Engage in comprehensive work in all communicative competences, oral as well as written.
    • Acquire the tools necessary to improve oral fluency appropriate to the level.
    • Improve and broaden the student’s lexical range.
    • Work towards attaining grammatical accuracy.
  • Assessment
    • Grade for participation and progress in the online sessions: 30%
    • Grade for homework, assignments and autonomous work: 30%
    • Final exam grade: 40%

    The exam will assess all the communicative elements of the language with a maximum of 10 points possible:

    • Written expression and interaction(2 points)
    • Reading comprehension (2 points)
    • Listening and audiovisual comprehension (2 points)
    • Oral expression and interaction. (2 points)
    • Grammar and vocabulary (2 points)

    In order to pass the course, the student must receive a grade of 5 in each of the three parts: participation and progress, homework, and exam.

    The exam will be given through Aula Global and Blackboard Collaborate.

     
  • Attendance

    ATTENDANCE REQUIRED TO OBTAIN CREDITS

    A student may only be absent for up to 20% of the course (8 hours) for any reason.

    A student who fails to meet the attendance requirement for any reason will be allowed to take the final examination but will not receive credit.

    • Blackboard Collaborate for live lessons.
    • Moodle (Aula Global UC3M) for access to course materials, submission of homework and assignments, and final exams.
