Portuguese courses

The Portuguese courses are designed for the Universidad Carlos IIIstudents as well as for other students from outside the UC3M who wish to enrol on the courses.

All courses are based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and are taught by specialised teachers with an extensive experience in teaching the language.

Methodology

  • Methodology based on the communicative approach
  • Small group size
  • Teaching levels based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages:
  • Diploma certifying duration of the course, qualification and level attained
  • The courses are open to students and staff of the UC3M as well as members of the public from outside the University. The latter need to hold a secondary education qualification ('bachillerato') to enrol on the course.

Official exams

There are two main certifications of Portuguese language proficiency internationally recognised. The PLE awarded by the CAPLE in Portugal and the CELPE-BRAS awarded by the Brazilian authorities.

Instituto Camões

The PLE is run in Madrid by the Instituto Camões for the five diplomas of Portuguese as a Foreign Language representing different levels of proficiency:

  • CIPLE – Certificado Inicial de Português Língua Estrangeira
  • DEPLE – Diploma Elementar de Português Língua Estrangeira
  • DIPLE – Diploma Intermédio de Português Língua Estrangeira
  • DAPLE – Diploma Avançado de Português Língua Estrangeira
