Professor Juliana Rodríguez Rodrigo

Juliana Rodríguez Rodrigo is Full Professor of Private International Law at Carlos III University in Madrid. She holds a PhD in Law from this university (2003) and a degree in Law and Business Administration and Management from Carlos III University in Madrid (1993-1999).

She is a lecturer on undergraduate and various postgraduate programmes at Carlos III University in Madrid. She has 5 teaching merit periods.

She is the author of six monographs and various articles published in prestigious journals, and has also contributed to several collective works. She has a total of 171 publications– monographs, journal articles, book chapters and case law reviews – (September 2025). Her main lines of research are international family law, international trade law, European competition law, international arbitration and industrial property law.

She has been part of two European research projects, three international projects, five national projects, one regional project and one project from other sources of funding (BBVA). Currently, as of September 2025, she is a member of two national projects and one regional project. She is also co-director of the ACCURSIO research group at Carlos III University in Madrid. She has supervised four doctoral theses, two of them as co-supervisor. The latter were defended with European distinction and one of them received the extraordinary Doctorate award. She has 3 six-years research periods.

She has been a Commissioner for the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, as Spain's delegate to the 51st Session of UNCITRAL (United Nations Commission on International Trade Law) (25 June to 3 July 2018, at the United Nations headquarters in New York). She is a member of the European Association of Private International Law (EAPIL) and has been a member of the association's working group set up to draft the future European Regulation on Property Rights (Working Group on International Property Law) (2021). She has been appointed Correspondent for Spain at UNIDROIT (International Institute for the Unification of Private Law by the Governing Council at its 101st session, for the period from June 2022 to May 2025, with renewal until May 2028. She has also been appointed by the Spanish Government as a member of the Consultative Committee of the UNIDROIT Working Group on International Investment Contracts for the three-year period 2023-2025.

She is co-Director of the Master in International Family and Succession Law and Deputy Director of the Master in International Trade, both at Carlos III University. She is the coordinator of the Final Degree Project in Law in the Dual Bachelor in Law at the Faculty of Social and Legal Sciences at Carlos III University in Madrid. She has been Vice-Dean of the Dual Bachelor in Law and International Studies and the Dual Bachelor in Law and Economics, and is currently Deputy Vice Rector for Teaching and Research Staff.
