11/24/23

The Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) is joining the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women by demonstrating its rejection of any form of gender-based violence and making a series of actions and measures available to the university community, as well as a programme of activities to mark 25N.

According to the United Nations, violence against women and girls is one of the most widespread human rights violations in the world. This type of violence, which manifests itself in many different forms, has serious physical, economic and psychological consequences on women and girls, preventing them from participating fully and equally in society.

UC3M is firmly committed to defending and guaranteeing the human rights of women and girls and the fight for equality. It also expresses its outright rejection of any form of gender-based violence.

To commemorate 25N, the Vice-Rector's Office for Institutional Relations, Culture and Equality has organised different activities with the aim of raising awareness and contributing to the prevention and eradication of violence against women, such as the broadcast from its auditorium on the Leganés campus, on Friday the 24th at 11:00, of a special 25N programme on Radio 3 with live musical performances by Delaporte, Pipiolas, Rozalén, Shego and Chica Sobresalto. In addition, monologues by students from the Master's Degree in Theatre Creation, poetry readings and the workshop "Women who take care of themselves", have been planned, among others.

In terms of actions and measures, UC3M has an Equality Plan and a protocol for prevention and action against sexual harassment and cyber-bullying, based on sex, sexual orientation and gender identity and/or expression. It is also offering courses and training on harassment for the university community and both psychological and legal support for victims of gender violence.
