UC3M has climbed 34 positions as compared with last year’s ranking. Worthy of note is its position in student-to-faculty ratio, 168th globally, a leap forward of 75 spots.   It ranks 178th in employer reputation (moving up 24 positions), while garnering the 292nd spot for academic reputation.

In the Spanish university system, UC3M holds first place in student-to-faculty ratio. “A high number of faculty members per student is an indirect indicator of institutions’ commitment to quality education,” the QS World University Rankings 2016/17 report explains. In addition, UC3M holds second place in Spain in faculty internationalization, which is “an approximate measure of a university’s international attraction for academic staff,” according to the ranking.

First published in 2004 by the British consulting company, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), this ranking is based on six indicators and it analyzes university performance in four areas:  research, teaching, employability and internationalization.
