Diagnosis of Electrical Machines and Insulating Material (DIAMAT)

Group head:
Juan Manuel Martínez Tarifa
Commercial datasheet:
DIAMAT

Description

The Diagnosis of Electrical Machines and Insulating Material group, DIAMAT, is made up of a team of 12 experts who develop innovative techniques for the monitoring and diagnosis of electrical machine insulation, particularly of power transformers, in analysing the behaviour of insulating materials in machines and electrical devices, and in carrying out high tension tests and measurements and dielectric response analysis (in frequency domain). These tests may be completed and compared with the results of finite element simulation.

Lines of research

  • Ageing and characterization of insulating materials for electrical machines and power
    cables.
  • Liquid and solid dielectrics characterization. New insulating materials.
  • Insulating liquids for electrical applications.
  • Instrumentation for the detection of ionization phenomena (partial discharges, electric
    arcs…).
  • Diagnosis and monitoring of rotating electric machines, power transformers and power
    cables.
  • Generation, analysis and measurements of electric arcs and its application to power
    systems for sustainable aviation.
  • Life management of power transformers.
