The Department of Materials Science and Engineering and Chemical Engineering, MSECE, has great technological capacity for the development and characterization of materials. In its laboratories, it has techniques and processes to carry out both specific tests and to develop R&D projects of interest in various industrial sectors, as derived from collaborations with companies (such as Airbus, Ames, ArcelorMittal, Premo, Ferroxcube, …) of the aeronautical, automotive, energy or construction sectors. MSECE professors and researchers have extensive experience in developing projects with companies and with a clear vocation to contribute to the development of society through the improvement of the design, characterization, production and application of materials. Among the labs, the following can be listed:

  • Nanoparticle synthesis and powder production
  • Processing and testing of powder metallurgical materials
  • Powder injection moulding
  • Additive manufacturing of polymers, ceramics and metals
  • Battery laboratory (Li and postLithium, redox flow)
  • Concrete, mortar and paste laboratory
  • Coating and surface modification tests
  • Microscopy laboratory (optical and SEM) and X-ray diffraction
  • Corrosion and electrochemistry laboratory
  • Wear testing laboratory
  • Thermal analysis laboratory
  • Chemical analysis
  • Mechanical tests
