I am an international student and I want to study a degree at UC3M, what should I do?
7/16/24
Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) is a Spanish university of excellence that stands out for its commitment to internationalization. In this post we will tell you about the undergraduate admission routes for international students.
The admission process for undergraduate studies for international students is different from that for Spanish students. At UC3M, there are two main pathways for international students: Early Admission and the International Foundation Program. In this post, we will discuss each of them.
Before we begin, it is important to note that we are currently facing a regulatory development process that may affect Spanish regulations for international students' access to studies. This change, which is expected to be a language or general culture exam, has not yet materialized and will not affect the upcoming 2024/2025 academic year.
Early Admission
The Early Admission process (Early Admission) is an option for accessing undergraduate studies at Universidad Carlos III, aimed at international students. Through Early Admission, and provided you have a good academic record, you can gain access to official studies in Spain without having to take an entrance exam. A committee appointed by the Rector will evaluate the admission, taking into account the overall grade point average and the grades in subjects relevant to the desired degree program.
Any student from an educational system other than the Spanish one who holds or is in the process of obtaining a qualification equivalent to the Spanish Bachillerato may apply for the Early Admission procedure. Applicants must have a good academic record, as the grades obtained in the courses taken will be crucial in evaluating the application. In addition, a B2 level in the language in which the degree is taught must be accredited. You can find all the information about Early Admission at this link.
International Foundation Program
The International Foundation Program (IFP) is a program developed by the Carlos III International School (C3IS) aimed at helping international students adapt to the Spanish university system and facilitate their integration by acquiring the basics of Spanish culture and language.
This program, which includes academic and experiential courses in the fields of Social Sciences and Engineering, lasts for one year and its completion is equivalent to 60 ECTS credits. Students who complete the IFP can enjoy direct access to the undergraduate studies of their choice.
The requirements to apply for enrollment in the IFP are having completed secondary education studies equivalent to the Spanish Bachillerato level and having at least a B2 level in either English or Spanish. You can find all the information at this link.
