European Virtual Exchange

European Virtual Exchange

What is the European Virtual Exchange?

EVE (European Virtual Exchange) is an innovative project where some of the top European universities are offering their students, using the technology of MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses), the opportunity to take courses in other institutions without needing to move. Besides Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M), the other universities partnering the project are: École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Delft University of Technology (TUDelft), University of Leiden, Université Catholique de Louvain, Wageningen University and Sorbonne University.

  • Outgoing

Both for the Fall and Spring semesters 2019/2020 UC3M is offering courses from Wageningen University (The Netherlands).

    Available courses

The courses offer is subject to elective credits recognition. Click on the link to access information about these courses and the recommendations for applying for them. Please take into account the course dates and the dates for the exam extra and regular calls.

Taking these courses is free. You will only need to pay for the credit recognition at UC3M (25% of the credits price).

Note that you can only participate in this initiative if you still have elective credits pending in your Bachelor’s Degree. If you have any question, ask the students office to check your personal file, as it is possible to recognize up to 6 elective credits.

If you are an exchange student, such as an Erasmus (incoming) or SICUE student, you cannot participate in this project..

    Application

If you are interested in any of the courses offered, you may apply by filling in this form before Monday, September 30 2019 (23:59 CET).

UC3M will select the students prioritizing the average grade. The maximum number of courses a student can take is three, yet, given that the goal of UC3M is to ensure the broadest participation in the program, students will be able to take more than once course in case there are still seats available. The selection of students will take place before 7 October.

If you have any question you can contact us here: uc3mdigital@uc3m.es.

    Access to the courses

Once the selection and admission process has finalized, the student will receive information from Wageningen University about how to access the course. This university will provide access to the learning resources on the platform according their conditions.

    Tutoring, practical sessions and labs

The courses are taken online with total flexibility for the students. There will not be specific times apart from the delivery of assignments or quizzes. Even though it is not necessary to access everyday, it is advisable to take the courses regularly according to the guidelines provided by the teaching team.

In some courses of the EVE project it is possible to access tutoring sessions with the teachers so that the remote students have the same success choices than the local ones. If there are practical sessions or labs, and depending on the features of the courses, a solution will be found in order to ensure a learning experience as similar to the residential one as possible.

    Exams

The students must do the activities, tests and exams programmed by the teaching team of the host university. The residential exams will take place at UC3M in the same date and time of the host university. The exam answers will be sent to the host university so that the teachers perform the evaluation.

In the information about the courses the exam periods (regular and extra) of the host university are simply outlined. The actual dates will be determined and communicated by Wageningen University once the courses have started.

    Credit recognition

If you pass the course you will get a transcript, that is, a certificate, that must be attached in the credit recognition process at UC3M. More information on this page.

Remember that taking these courses is free, but you will only need to pay for the credit recognition at UC3M (25% of the credits price).
