Sustainable Horizons

“Sustainable Horizons” is the web site through which Universidad Carlos III de Madrid communicates its contribution to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda. The 17 SDGs include from the eradication of hunger and poverty to the quality of education, gender equality, the reduction of inequalities, action against climate change, the protection of biodiversity and the environment, and the sustainability of our cities. Their achievement leads the way to a sustainable, responsible and inclusive society that leaves no one behind, allows everybody to improve their quality of life and does not endanger the opportunities of development of future generations. The University Carlos III Madrid adopts a holistic approach to sustainable development policies by acknowledging and integrating SDGs as organizing principles into all its governing bodies as well as in all dimensions of its activities: education, research, management and governance, and social leadership. Our Agenda for the Compliance with SDGs (Agenda SDG UC3M), approved in April 2021, lays the foundations of our policies for the years to come. At the same time UC3M contributes to the global attainment of SDGs through the sustainable development initiatives of the university international alliances in which it participates, such as YERUN (Young European Research Universities Network), YUFE (Young Universities for the Future of Europe) and UGC (University Global Coalition).
