Institute of the University of Giessen. In 1990 he became a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics while in the year 2008 he obtained the “doctor honoris causa” from the University of Santiago de Compostela. He has been a member of the Editorial Board of many scientific journals in Probability and Statistics. His main activities are on stochastic processes with applications in survival analysis, market research and finance.

Research stay at UC3M: DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS.

Project: Modelling and analyzing the behavior of consumers on a micro-level is a challenging task. A special feature in this context is the impact of promotion activities of a company. Of course this may change from household to household. Therefore an appropriate approach uses statistical methodology. Since attractive models are semiparametric, the involved stochastic processes do not allow for simple distributional approximations. Therefore, it is important to study appropriate martingale transformations which make practical tests feasible.

Stay period: SEP 14 - FEB 15
