Gottfried Döhler - Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light (GERMANY)

Gottfried Döhler earned his PhD in Theoretical Physics from the Technical University of Munich. He is a member of the Max Planck Research Group, Institute of Optics, Information and Photonics (now the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light). He has taught at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg since 1986 and was a Visiting Professor at Johannes Kepler University. Dr. Döhler has also worked at the Max Planck Institute for Physics and Astrophysics in Munich, the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research in Stuttgart, and at the Hewlett-Packard Laboratories in Palo Alto, California. His research interests are high field phenomena, donor-acceptor pair luminescence, transport in amorphous semiconductors and to semiconductor superlattices and microstructures. He has chaired conferences in Italy and the United States and has published more than 400 articles in leading journals. He is also a member of the Editorial Board of Superlattices and Microstructures. In 1984 Dr. Döhler received the Walter Schottky Prize from the German Physical Society. He is a member of the German Physical Society (DPG) and the American Physical Society.

Research stay at UC3M: SIGNAL AND COMMUNICATIONS THEORY DEPARTMENT

Project: Antenna Arrays and Large-Area Emitters for Terahertz Generation. The goal of this joint project is to enhance the power emitted by sources of electro-magnetic radiation in the Terahertz (THz) range (with wavelengths between 0.1 to 1.0 mm), by combining the expertise on antenna design at the Signal and Theory Department at Carlos III University with our experience at the Max Planck Institute for the Science of light (Erlangen, Germany) on optoelectronic THz emitters.

Stay Period: SEP 11 - MAR 12
