Roger Feldman - University of Minnesota (USA)

Roger Feldman is the Blue Cross Professor of Health Insurance and Professor of Economics at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Feldman was a Marshall Scholar at the London School of Economics, where he received his MA degree, and holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Rochester in New York. His research interests have focused on the application of Economic Theory to research on health care services. Dr. Feldman's experience in health care policy includes his position as Director of one of the four national research centers sponsored by the Health Care Financing Administration. He also served on the Senior Staff of the President's Council of Economic Advisers. Dr. Feldman is a regular contributor to journals specializing in economics and health services research. His paper, The Effect of HMOs on Premiums in Employment-Based Health Plans was selected as the best paper of 1993 by the Association for Health Services Research.

RESEARCH STAY AT UC3M: ECONOMICS DEPARTMENT

PROJECT: Dr. Feldman collaborated with UC3M colleagues on joint research projects, seminars at various European universities, and conferences with professionals from the health care sector and government officials. Among his projects are a study of generic drug adoption among developed countries, Spain’s growing obesity epidemic, and international non-proprietary drug names (known as “INN”).
