Professor Carlos Santiuste Romero

Carlos is Full Professor at Department of Continuums Mechanics and Structural Analysis. He has a degree in Industrial Engineering (2003) and a PhD (2007) in Mechanical Engineering at UC3M. Moreover, he has a degree in Philosophy at UNED (2013).

His area of specialization is the mechanical behavior of composites in dynamic conditions. Since 2013 he has developed his own line of research focused on biodegradable composites reinforced with natural fibers.

He has been a pioneer in Spain in the creation of MOOCs (Massive Online Open Courses) with two courses on the edX platform and another two on MiriadaX and he has also created three SPOCs (Small Private Online Course). In addition, his YouTube channel on "Elasticity and Strength of Materials" has more than 18,600 subscribers and more than 2,850,000 views.

In terms of teaching innovation, he has focused on the use of audiovisual material to improve the quality of face-to-face teaching by applying the Flipped Classroom method since 2015.
