Professor Víctor Tribaldos Macia

Bachelor of Physical Sciences, specialty of Theoretical Physics, extraordinary promotion award and Doctor of Physical Sciences from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. His research career has been developed in the field of Plasma Physics and Controlled Thermonuclear Fusion, mainly in the Laboratorio Nacional de Fusión of Ciemat (Center for Environmental Technological and Energy Research) as Senior Researcher until 2009 in which he joined the Plasma Physics Group of the Physics department at the Escuela Politécnica Superior of Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, where he is a Profesor Titular since 2012.

In his more than 30 years of professional career he has carried out purely theoretical studies and developed massively parallel numerical codes to understand and simulate the heating and the particle and energy transport in magnetically confined plasmas. He has also participated in the interpretation of experimental results from several devices and developing models and numerical codes from first principles. He actively participated in the scientific exploitation of several fusión devices such as the stellarators TJ-I U and TJ-II of Ciemat (Madrid), the W7-AS (Garching) and W7-X (Greifswald) from the Institut für Plasmaphysik (IPP) of the Max Planck Society in Germany, the Heliotron-J from the Institute for Advanced Energies (IAE) of Kyoto University in Japan and the European tokamak JET (Culham), UK. He also participated in design studies of the NCSX stellarator from the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL), USA and the modeling of ITER tokamak (Cadarache), France.

He has participated and headed several competitive projects since 1996, is referee of several international journals and public research evaluation agencies and member of several national and international scientific committees. From 2014 to 2018 has been Deputy Director of Promotion and Alumni of the Engineering School of Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, where he combines his research work with teaching Degree, Master and Doctorate courses, the direction of Ph.D. thesis, final Degree Projects and university management.
