Professor José María de Fuentes García-Romero de Tejada

Jose Maria de Fuentes is Associate Professor with the Computer Security Lab (COSEC), Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (Spain). He got the PhD in Computer Science by UC3M in 2012 with distinction. He also got the best academic record award in the Bachelor in Computer Science in 2017.

His research interests are related to cybersecurity and privacy with current focus on IoT and smartphone security. He has published +50 articles including +25 journal papers, also contributing to top conferences such as USENIX Security or AsiaCCS. He is serving as Editor for Security and Communication Networks and Journal of Network and Computer Applications, as well as PC member in international conferences such as ICICS, SACMAT or ARES.

He has co-authored an assessment report for the European Parliament concerning cybersecurity strategies for decision makers. One of his works got the third place in the applied research competition at CSAW 2017. He also got the Spanish 9ENISE award on cybersecurity awareness. Since 2018 he is serving as VP of the Spanish National Committee on Cybersecurity and Data Privacy (UNE-CTN320).

He has been serving as Deputy Director of Academic Planning of UC3M’s School of Engineering since November 2018.
