Biophysicist Eva Nogales, Doctor Honoris Causa by UC3M

The Governing Council of Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) has decided to appoint Spanish scientist Eva Nogales, a researcher at the University of California at Berkeley, as Doctor Honoris Causa in recognition of her relevant academic and scientific merits.
The solemn investiture ceremony, which will take place at a later date, is one of the most important ceremonies held at the University. More information.
Eva Nogales is Distinguished Professor of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Structural Biology in the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California, Berkeley (USA), and a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator. Last year she received the 2023 Shaw Prize in Life Sciences (an ‘Oriental Nobel Prize’) for her contributions to the structural biology of gene transcription (one of the fundamental processes of life), making her the first Spanish scientist to receive this award.
