The Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) has received a 4.12 million euro grant to launch two chairs related to microelectronics and semiconductors. This aid is part of the state programme 'Cátedras Chip' (‘Chip Chairs’) for the training of professionals and R&D through public-private collaboration in universities.
Cátedras Chip (Chip Chairs) is a programme promoted by the Spanish Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation within the framework of the Strategic Microelectronics and Semiconductors Project (PERTE Chip, in its Spanish acronym).
Its objective is to strengthen the national talent and scientific ecosystem by funding university-business chairs for research, outreach and training in different areas related to microelectronics during the years 2023 and 2027.
The aim of these grants is to give university students access to specific training in the field of semiconductors and microelectronics.
