UC3M receives the Education Award at the Madrid Open City Awards

The Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) received the award in the Education category at the second edition of the Madrid Open City Awards, which took place on the 5th of February at the Thyssen Museum. These awards are an initiative of the Madrid Open City (MOC) association and bring together personalities and institutions from the business world, education, gastronomy, art, entertainment and sports that have received awards due to their positive impact on the international positioning of Madrid.

The UC3M Rector, Ángel Arias, collected the award. The jury valued "its commitment to innovation and academic excellence, offering quality education and promoting advanced research, which places it at the top of all Spanish university rankings in terms of excellent teaching and employability".

During the ceremony, the MOC Extraordinary Award was also presented to the lawyer Antonio Garrigues Walker in recognition of his entire international career. The following companies also received awards: Cabify in the Entrepreneurship category, Formula 1 in the Sports category, Mahou San Miguel for its Talent Attraction, Mapfre in the ESG category, HM Hospitales in the Healthcare category, Mutua Madrileña in the Innovation category, and the Paraguas Group in the Leisure and Entertainment category. The television programme broadcast on Telemadrid  "Madrileños por el mundo" won the award in the Communication category, and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week won the award in the Fashion and Design category.

The president of MOC, Gerardo Seeliger, pointed out that the fundamental mission of these awards "is to position and promote the Spanish capital in foreign markets, attracting investment, talent and innovation in all sectors". MOC is supported by the City Council and the Community of Madrid.
