The UC3M and CBA School of Arts 2020 begins on the 22nd June

The summer courses will take place in person with an online option for those living outside of Madrid

The Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) and the Círculo de Bellas Artes (CBA) are organising a new edition of the School of Arts. The 13th edition of the summer courses, focused on reflecting on society, culture and art, will take place between the 22nd June and 3rd July 2020.

This edition brings together five courses and five workshops, aimed at students as well as professionals and the public interested in general culture. Politics, photography, series, gastronomy, videogames, art, and fashion are some of this year’s subjects. In addition to the in-person courses there will also be an online format available for those living outside of Madrid, due to mobility restrictions caused by COVID-19. These online formats will only be applicable to the courses. The workshops will only be offered in an in-person format. All of the activities carried out at the course venue, the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid, will follow security rules and protocols established in the framework of health alert due to COVID-19. 

The School of Arts is the cultural and artistic project from the Círculo de Bellas Artes and the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, and a reference in the offer of summer courses in our country. Organised by the Vice-President for Communication and Culture at the UC3M and the CBA, the School is committed to interdisciplinarity and critical and creative dialogue with the present. The courses are taught by academics, professionals, and artists. 

COURSES AND WORKSHOPS

Registration is open for the following courses and workshops

Courses:

From 22nd to 26th June, 10am until 2pm.

- A través del espejo: (auto)biografía y exhibición en el arte, el pensamiento y la escritura (Through the looking glass: (Auto)biography and exhibition of art, thought and writing). Instructors: Lucía Jalón and David Sánchez Usanos.

- Ficción y política en la Galaxia Fake (Fiction and politics in the Fake Galaxy). Instructor: Pilar Carrera. 

From 29th June to 3rd July, 10am until 2pm.

- El poder de las series y las series del poder (Power of series and series of power). Instructors: Iván de los Ríos and Óscar Vincentelli.

- Más allá de la imagen. Estrategias de investigación en la fotografía contemporánea (More than the image. Research strategies in contemporary photography). Instructor: Nicolás Combarro.

- Periodistas VS influencers: en busca de un horizonte para la comunicación de moda (Journalists vs. influencers: searching for a horizon for fashion communication=. Instructor: Vicente Gallart.

Workshops

From 22nd to 26th June, 4pm until 8pm.

- Comer, disfrutar y pensar (Eat, enjoy and think=. Instructor: Juan Ángel Vela del Campo.

- Curador, cúrate a ti mismo (Teoría y práctica del comisariado) (Curator, curate thyself (Theory and practice of curatorship)). Instructor: Manuel Fontán.

- Guion de videojuegos (Videogame scripts). Instructors: Alberto Murcia and Fernando Broncano.

From 29th June to 3rd July, 4pm until 8pm.

- El discreto encanto del collage (The discrete charm of the collage). Instructor: Sean Mackaoui.

-Escritura narrative (Narrative writing). Instructor: David Conte.
