The UC3M presents the programme of events for its 30th anniversary

The Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) has set out the programme of events to be held to commemorate its thirtieth anniversary. These activities, which try to accommodate diverse voices and themes, will be updated during the academic year and can be consulted on the following website: https://www.uc3m.es/30thanniversary/home.
“It has been thirty years of collective effort and dedication, in short, defending an idea: a public institution at the forefront of higher education in Spain", the chancellor of the UC3M, Juan Romo, states on the website. “All the achievements of these thirty years, he adds, would have been impossible without this commitment on the part of the entire university community and without this shared horizon".
The program begins on Friday 11 October at the location of the Royal Spanish Academy, which hosts “Susurrantes”, a pedagogical Arts project from the Vice-Chancellor’s office for Communication and Culture of the UC3M, which has poetry and literature at its core. The aim is to rediscover stories and poems through forms of oral transmission.
The next event within the framework of the 30th anniversary will take place on Friday 25 October at the García Lorca Theatre in Getafe, where "Paraíso de los negros" will be performed, under the direction of María Pagés and the writer El Arbi El Harti. This work explores the choreography “Óyeme con los ojos" in the light of the dialogue between the poems "Sentimientos de ausente" by Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz and "Norma y paraíso de los negros" by Federico García Lorca.
Three events are scheduled for November: Álvaro Marías and the chamber group Formato Zarabanda offer a musical journey through Baroque Europe, which will be held at the Institución Libre de Enseñanza; a joint event with the EFE Agency on "Journalism, Artificial Intelligence and Big Data", at the UC3M Getafe campus; there will be concerts by the UC3M Orchestra, which will play Brahms, and the UC3M Choir, which will be held in the Auditorium of the University's Leganés campus.
In the second four-month period, meetings will be held with actor José Sacristán at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid and with the publishers and editors of Anagrama, Cátedra, Siruela and Pre-Textos with the theme "Being an editor today".
Additionally, UC3M Centers will carry out specific events to commemorate the anniversary. Besides these activities, others will be added during the academic year.
