This ranking was carried out taking into account thirteen performance indicators in five large fields: teaching (the learning environment; with a 30% weight) research (volume, income and reputation; 30%), citations (research influence; 30%), international outlook (staff, students, research; 7.5%) and the university’s relationship with industry (knowledge transfer; 2.5%).

The UC3M remains between the 150th and 200th places in the eighth edition of this ranking, which has analysed one hundred more institutions than last year. 22 Spanish institutions have been ranked; only France, with 24 universities, and the United Kingdom, with 34, have beaten Spain for the number of universities.

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology holds first place worldwide, followed by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne, Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) and the PSL Research University (Paris Sciences et Lettres) in France.
