QS Top 50 Under 50 Ranking

UC3M continues to be ranked among the best 30 young universities in the world

Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) continues to hold a noteworthy position in the new edition of the “QS Top 50 Under 50” ranking. This ranking classifies the best 50 universities in the world founded less than 50 years ago.

Ranking QS: 50 mejores universidades jóvenes del mundo

UC3M is ranked fourth nationally and is one of the six Spanish institutions of higher learning that appear in this ranking.  The others are: the Autónoma de Madrid, the Autónoma de Barcelona, the Politécnica de Cataluña, the Pompeu Fabra and the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia. Four of these form part of the Alianza 4 Universidades (A4U), made up by the UAB, UAM, UC3M and the UPF, and that was created in 2008 with a common commitment to promoting excellence in teaching and high quality scientific research.

In order for a university to be assessed in the QS Top 50 Under 50 ranking, it must fulfill two requisites: be 49 years old or less (UC3M was founded 1989), and be ranked in the QS World University Ranking, which assesses more than 4,000 centers of higher learning in the world.

In the latest update of the QS World University Ranking, which was published in June, UC3M was ranked in one of the highest positions, 281, since being included in this classification.  Since 2015, UC3M has risen 74 spots.

Developed by the British consultancy firm, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), this ranking is based on six indicators and analyses university performance in four areas:  research, teaching, employability and internationalization.
