Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) has obtained official accreditation from the  AACSB, an international organization that recognizes the top centers of higher learning worldwide for teaching quality at the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral level, and  for its research into the areas of business administration, accounting, finance and marketing.

The AACSB accreditation is a seal of distinction for excellence in business education and has been obtained by fewer than five percent of the business school programs worldwide.  Only a few Spanish schools of business (all of them private) have received this seal.  UC3M is the first public university in Spain to achieve it, though its Department of Business Administration.

"AACSB accreditation represents the highest achievement for an educational institution which  awards business degrees,” according to Robert D. Reid, executive vice-president and chief accreditation officer for AACSB International, who congratulated the entire UC3M team, “including the administration, the teaching faculty, program directors, staff and  students.”

Obtaining accreditation requires a rigorous process of internal review, mentoring by the AACSB and based on peer review. During the process, which last several years, the institution develops and implements a plan for alignment with AACSB accreditation standards.  These standards require excellence in areas related to strategic management, research, innovation, training and development of students, excellence in faculty and administrative staff and services, together with academic and professional commitment.
