The courses “Introducción a la programación con Java” part 1: “Starting to Code with Java” and part 2: “Writing Good Code” will start on 4th October and 1st November, respectively; they will be taught in English and will be geared towards providing students with basic knowledge of programming and Java. Previous versions of these two courses have seen more than 230,000 students enrolling from around the world.

The course “Utopedia: Educación para una Sociedad del Conocimiento” ("Utopedia: Education for a Knowledge Society"), which will begin on 18th October, deals with the transformation of the model of an industrial society into a model eminently marked by information and knowledge production, and the importance of reinventing education, in terms of the capital role it plays in this transformation.

These courses are scheduled to last for between five and seven weeks and will offer the students between five and ten class hours per week.

UC3M in edX

UC3M has been part of edX since February 2014. This platform is promoted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard University with the objective of offering MOOCs. In addition to eDX, UC3M participates in the platforms Universia and MiríadaX, and offers open courses in projects such as OpenCourseWare (OCW).

The University is also developing innovative teaching projects and Flipped Classroom and Small Private Online Courses (SPOCs) for subjects on the curriculum.
