Cutoff scores for admission rise in 70% of the UC3M undergraduate programs

The cutoff scores for University admission have gone up in 70% of the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) undergraduate degree programs with respect to the previous academic year. In 27 of its degree programs (five more than last year), the highest cutoff score was registered in all of the Madrid universities. Furthermore, demand as a first-choice option in the academic offer improved, with 99.5 percent of undergraduate spots covered in June.

UC3M continues to attract top students: the average admission score for all the UC3M undergraduate degree programs for this coming academic year is 10.850 out of a maximum of 14 points (two tenths more than in 2015).

In addition, the three new degrees UC3M is offering this year have seen excellent acceptance: the Open Degree in Social Sciences and Humanities, the Open Degree in Engineering, and the Double Degree in International Studies and Economics.

The growing interest in UC3M for students from other autonomous regions of Spain as well as other countries has led to an incoming student body with 40 percent from outside the Madrid area. 

Practically all of the UC3M places were covered in June (99.5%) for the upcoming academic year. Furthermore, demand for places has risen: for every 100 places offered, there were 163 applications submitted.

The demand for university study rose 4.4 percent in the entire Madrid area with respect to the previous year; in UC3M, there was an 11.8 percent increase.

The degree programs with the highest cutoff score for admission in the School of Law and Social Sciences were the Double Degree in International Studies-Business Administration (12.924) and  the Double Degree in International Studies, and Law (12.873), in addition to the Joint Degree with the Alianza 4U Universities in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (12.662). In the School of Humanities, Communication and Documentation, achieving the highest score was the Double Degree in Journalism and Audiovisual Communication (11.819); and in the School of Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, (12.278) and Aerospace Engineering (11.932).
