    The title of Especialista en Derecho de la Competencia (2nd edition) is taught on Friday afternoons and Saturdays in the morning at the UC3M Puerta de Toledo-Madrid Campus at a time compatible with professional practice or study of other postgraduate courses.

    The objective of this program is to provide our students with a solid theoretical and practical knowledge of the competition defense system, paying special attention to the most recent developments derived from the digitalization of the economy and the generalization of online platforms and big data . It is thus intended to train lawyers and economists of the company, law, consulting or public administrations with the capacity to meet the growing demand of public and private entities in this field.

    The credits necessary to obtain the degree will be completed with a final work or the realization of professional practices in one of the law firms or collaborating entities.

    Module I. Introduction  to competition law (2 credits). María Pilar Canedo (CNMC)

    • Origin and evolution of competition law. Competition, efficiency and market economy. The constitutional recognition of freedom of enterprise and economic competition.
    • Legal regime: European and Spanish community regulations. Approach. Institutional Design
    • Relevant market and market power. Special features of multi-sided markets (platforms): digitalization, network effects and big data

    Module II Prohibited conduct (5 credits). Antonio Guerra (Uría Menéndez)

    • Common elements: Subjective scope. Company concept. The agency problem. The responsibility of the facilitator. facilitator Applicability of competition law to public administrations.     • ENROLLMENT

      The registration fee of Title Specialist is 2.800 euros (1,400 for undergraduate or graduate students of the UC3M).

      It will be possible to enroll some or some modules independently if there are places available.

      The payment of the tuition for the full Course can be divided into two installments distributed as follows:

      •  Once a week has elapsed since the admission was notified in writing, € 1,000 as payment for the first installment and reservation of place.
      •  Before October 31, the remaining amount (€ 1.800)


      You can only request the return of the tuition fees for the first term, in the event of the impossibility of assistance due to a justified serious illness or other comparable reason.

  • PROFESSIONAL OUTINGS

    Although it is likely that some of our students are already active in the labor market, the objective is to enable them to provide services as specialists in defense of competition in the sectors of corporate legal advice, advocacy or consulting, as well as in regulatory bodies or public administrations.

    Duration and Hours


    The duration of the specialist course is 4 months (-) at a time compatible with the professional activity (late Friday and Saturday mornings). It is taught at the Puerta de Toledo Campus, in the center of Madrid.

    Language

    The language of the degree is in Spanish, although it is planned to teach seminars and classes in English, taking into account that it is a very common working language for specialists in this field.


    Professional practices
