Rate Control Algorithms for H.264/SVC

Scalable Video Coding (SVC) is the latest extension of the video coding standard H.264/AVC. It provides on-the-fly bit rate adaptation for varying network conditions and for heterogeneous devices with different display resolutions and computational capabilities.

Given the paramount importance of the rate control algorithms in the video coding, the main goal of this research line is to design rate control solutions for application areas that benefit from SVC, such as live streaming, broadcast, video conference, storage and surveillance.
