HISTRIO: Research Group on Contemporary and Current Theatre

Group head:
Guadalupe Soria Tomás

Description

Our activities:

  • Research, participation and organization of activities (conferences, workshops...) on the paradigms of contemporary and current theatre. Subsequent dissemination of the results obtained.
  • The research activities are carried out both from the dramaturgical and textual perspective and from the performative approach, which addresses the processes of acting interpretation, the scenic treatment of space, the reception of the play and the political dimension of theatre.
  • Collaboration between research groups from other institutions with similar objectives.

Lines of research

  • New scenic spaces: Evolution of traditional scenic spaces and performative use of non-theatrical spaces.
  • New dramaturgies: new political theatre, hybridization of genres, rewritings, adaptations and stagings of texts belonging to the canon, the expanded scene, etc.
  • Evolution of interpretive techniques: From the naturalist actor to the performer. The non-actor.
  • Theory and practice related to the performance.
  • New areas of theatrical management and dissemination.
  • Current paradigms of critical reception.
  • New conceptions of the spectator.
  • Rupture of contemporary theatre models (evolution of the scene from the end of the XIX century to the XXI).
