Saúl Alonso Monsalve, Doctor en Ciencia y Tecnología Informática por la Universidad Carlos III de Madrid
Saúl Alonso Monsalve, PhD in Computer Science and Technology by Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, has been awarded two prestigious Spanish national awards for his doctoral research:
- Spanish Computer Science Society (SCIE) - BBVA Foundation Research Award, for the innovative and relevant doctoral research of young computer scientists (https://www.fbbva.es/premios/premios-investigacion-sociedad-cientificainformatica- espana-fundacion-bbva-2022/).
- Enrique Fuentes Quintana - Funcas Award, for the best thesis at the national level in the category of Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, and Architecture (https://www.funcas.es/convocatorias-premios-efq/).
Each award consists of a diploma, a cash prize of 5,000€, and a ceremony that will take place by the end of the year.
Saúl is currently a senior software engineer at the Federal Polytechnic School of Zurich, Switzerland (ETH Zürich). His doctoral thesis carried out at CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research, in Switzerland), the largest physics laboratory in the world, focused on applying deep learning and high-performance computing to experimental neutrino physics. The thesis provides revolutionary content to particle physics and is an excellent contribution to the study of neutrinos and the knowledge of the matter-antimatter asymmetry of the Universe.
