Prof.Dr. D. Manuel Knoll




Manuel Knoll’s areas of specialization are Ancient, Modern and Contemporary Political Philosophy and Ethics, in particular Ancient and Contemporary Theories of Justice. His “Habilitationsschrift”, published in 2009, was on the political philosophy and theory of justice of Aristotle and Martha Nussbaum, and on her “capabilities approach”. Besides approx. 50 book chapters, articles etc. he edited a book on Machiavelli’s political thought which appeared in 2009, and a volume on the Renaissance thought on the modern state which came out in 2013. In 2002 Manuel Knoll published a book on Adorno’s Ethics which came out of his PhD-thesis. His areas of competence are Social Philosophy and Critical Theory, Greek Philosophy of Classical Antiquity, and Postmodernism and Post-Structuralism. Currently he is editing a book on Nietzsche’s Political Theory and Michael Walzer’s Theory of Justice.
