Outstanding Thesis Awards

    The academic community of Universidad Carlos III de Madrid gives its recognition to the unique merits and values of our institution's doctoral theses with its Outstanding Thesis Award. 

    This award acknowledges the quality of original research works based on their scientific and technological contributions to the stock of knowledge in their field. According to the volume of work produced by each Ph.D. program, this award is granted on an annual or bi-annual basis. All graduate doctors with a cum laude distinction in the previous academic year are eligible for this award.

    The history of the Outstanding Thesis Awards shows notable achievements that our institution wishes to share with society as proof of our students' ongoing research efforts. Since 1999, UC3M has honored the quality of more than 300 original works in doctoral research developed in our departments and institutes.

  • How to apply
    Premios Extraordinarios de Doctorado

    Ph.D. graduates with a cum laude distinction during the 2020-2021 academic year are eligible for this award. Eligibility is also extended to Ph.D. graduates from previous years who could not apply previously due to lack of call for awards on their Ph.D. program.

     

    How to apply:

    • Check the call for applications of your Ph.D. Program on the Current Call tab. If you Ph.D. Program is not listed, you will have to wait for further calls to participate.
    • Submit your online application available on the description of your Ph.D. Program call.
    • Upload to your application the documentation indicated in the description: scientific outcomes of the doctoral thesis (required), CV, supporting documents, etc. (optional).

     

    Evaluation period. The Committee appointed by each Ph.D. Program will evaluate the applications according to the Program's assessment criteria listed on their call.
     

    Award Recipients. The Dean of the Doctoral School will receive the list of award recipients proposed by the Evaluation Committee of each Ph.D. Program and submit it for resolution to the Rector of Universidad Carlos III de Madrid in December.
