Student: Ana Márquez
The World Health Organization constitution describes health as a “ state of complete physical, psychic and social wellbeing and not a simple absence of disease”. A state that can change dramatically when someone pronounces the word cancer, which immediately causes fear, anguish and frustration, along with a feeling of uncertainty among their patients, who need to receive a treatment with harmful side effects.
Cancer patients experiment a progressive physical deterioration while fighting against the disease due to treatments like chemotherapy that not only affect them internally but also externally. Consequences such as loosing their hair change the way they relate to the world causing that many of them feel a huge psychological pressure.
The aim of this photo reportage is to present how a cancer treatment that includes a cosmetic care for patients will benefit them by improving their quality of life during the healing process.
