The master degree in sustainable development law and policy (MdpDS-UC3M) is an innovative academic proposal aimed at educating young professionals on the meaning and importance of the SDGs, and at training them to guide any organization’s activity so that they follow the 2030 Agenda in their day to day activities both, internally and externally, from a legal and a policy perspectives. This legal(and policy) focus does not exclude, however, the involvement of other professional perspectives, given the interdisciplinarity needed for the implementation of the measures in this matter.

The implementation of those goals constitute a social justice target that justifies the great need and interest of the inclusion of the SDGs into any organization’s discourse. But this requires not only a broad understanding of the complex concept of “sustainability” but, particularly, de use of specific instruments aimed at the identification, formulation, programming (policy), compliance and conflict management (composition, mediation, arbitration or litigation), verification and control (accountability and audit) of that inclusion within the organization’s structure, and of their effective realization in their normal activity.

The master's degree is suitable for all those who wish to reinforce their professional profile with the necessary tools for integration, from an institutional perspective, in all areas of study, organizations, public and private, of the management controls necessary to comply with the obligations associated with the ODS.

      Student profile:

College graduates and professionals, preferably in the areas of Law, Political Science, Labor relations or Administration and Public Management, Economy, Business Administration, or double bachelor’s degrees  that include any of the previous (or analogous), committed to the end of poverty, the protection of the planet and the fight for peace and prosperity for all, through the incorporation of the SDGs into the public policies, the business’ performance, and the activity of any public agent.

This master degree offers the needed training to elaborate and/or participate in the problem solving and risk management analysis, strategy and policy development and rollout, the implementation of measures and conflict management, audit and control and consulting, of the SDGs implementation.

The admission to the program will be decided by the MdpDS-UC3M executive team, jointly with the Pascual Madoz Institute by weighting the candidate’s resume and professional experience (if any) and/or personal experience, and the face-to-face interview conducted, similarly, by the executive team and the Institute Director.

Criteria for the selection of the candidates:

The resume will serve as the first filter for the candidate’s selection. Candidates must be proficient in Spanish, and it is recommended that they also have a good level of understanding in English, that will allow them to follow the classes that will be delivered in that language. The personal interview will serve as the final filter for the selection of the candidates.

      Admission process:

The application deadline will be opened until: 15 June.

If once the application deadline is expired there are still vacancies, or if the demand to apply to the program justifies the extension of the seats offered, an extraordinary application deadline will be

  • CAREER OPORTUNITIES

There is a tendency today to assess any activity, public or private, under sustainability parameters. It has even become a social legitimacy factor for those activities and, therefore, governments are integrating them into their policies and regulation. In this same vein, investors are increasingly becoming more interested in companies committed to the ESG principles. As a result, new skills are needed to effectively control all the responsibilities linked to the SDGs.
