What is the purpose of processing your personal data?

At the UNIVERSIDAD CARLOS III, we process information that you provide us with the aim of admnistrating the relationship that unites us, administrating the mailing of information that you request from us, providing interested persons offers of our services or products of interest, or processing your applications.

The personal data that could be collected directly from the data subject will be processed confidentially and will remain incorporated in the corresponding processing activity governed by the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.

How long will we save your personal data?

The personal data provided will be kept for as long as necessary to fulfill the purpose for which they were collected and to determine the possible responsibilities that could derive from the purpose, in addition to the periods established in the regulation on archives and documentation.

What is the legitimacy for the processing of your data?

To be able to process the data of persons, there must be a legal basis for doing so.  According to the case, the legal bases that enable the university to process personal data are the following:

The data subject gave their consent for the processing of their personal data for one or several specific objectives;

The processing is necessary for the execution of a contract of which the data subject is a part or for the application of precontractual measures at the request of the data subject;

The processing is necessary to protect vital interests of the data subject or another natural person;

Or the processing is necessary for the fulfillment of a mission undertaken in the public interest or in the exercise of public powers conferred to the university.  We process your data for providing the public service of higher education, research, or the dissemination of science and culture in accordance with Organic Law 6/2001, of 21 December, on universities.

The data that we process are those that are appropriate, relevant, and strictly necessary.

To whom are your data communicated?

Generally, personal data will not be communicated to third parties except under legal obligation, an example of which might be communications to the ombudsman, judges, and courts.

What are your rights when you provide us with your data?

The data protection rights which the interested parties hold are the following:

  • The right to request access to the personal data that pertain to the data subject
  • The right to modification or elimination
  • The right to opposition
  • The right to request the limitation of their processing
  • The right to the portability of the data

The owners of the personal data obtained can exercise their personal data protection rights by means of a written communication addressed to the UNIVERSIDAD CARLOS III or to the e-mail address established for this purpose, dpd@uc3m.es, including in both cases a photocopy of their national ID card or equivalent identification document.

Where can I file a complaint if I consider that my data are not being processed correctly?

If a data subject considers that their data are not being processed correctly by the UNIVERSIDAD CARLOS III, they can send their complaints to e-mail address dpd@uc3m.es or to the corresponding data protection authority, the AEPD in Spanish territory, www.agpd.es.

Can I withdraw my consent?

You have the possibility and the right to withdraw your consent for any specific purpose granted at the time without affecting the legality of the processing based on the consent prior to its withdrawal.

 

 

Security and updating of your personal data

With the aim of safeguarding the security of your personal data, we inform you that the UNIVERSIDAD CARLOS III adopts all the technical and organizational measures necessary to guarantee the security of the personal data provided. This is to avoid their alteration, loss, or unauthorized processing or access, as required by the regulation, even if absolute security is not possible.

In order to keep your personal data updated, it is important that you inform us whenever there is a change in them.

The UNIVERSIDAD CARLOS III DE MADRID informs you that your data will be processed with the maximum diligence and confidentiality by all the personnel that participate in any of the phases of the processing.  We will not release or communicate your data to any third party except in cases stipulated by law or when the interested party has expressly authorized us to do so.
