Professor Antonio de Amescua Seco

Antonio de Amescua Seco is a Full Professor at Carlos III University of Madrid. He is the founder of the Software Engineering Laboratory at the Department of Computer Engineering and his current main line of research is Digital Transformation through the Innovation of Digital Processes and Products.

Committed to excellence in Public Higher Education, he participated as deputy director of the School of Engineering in the setting-up of the UC3M Campus in Leganés.

His research work on the standardization of software engineering, management and quality has been applied both in consulting companies and advanced IT technology: Telefónica, IECISA, Accenture, ATOS, EY, Everis etc., as well as in public organizations: MAP, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Economy, Employment and Competitiveness of the Community of Madrid.

Convinced of the need to promote technological innovation, he created two technology startups, one jointly with the Doctor Honoris Causa of UC3M, Prof. Angel Jordan, founding director of the Software Engineering Institute and provost of Carnegie Mellon University.

Aligned with the UC3M digitization strategy, he has spent five years designing online courses, both MOOCs and SPOCs, and experiencing their results in the learning process.

He has more than 30 years’ experience in the design, deployment and delivery of Master's and Bachelor's degree courses in Computer Engineering and is an active member of the ECQA (European Certification and Qualification Association). He has supervised 14 doctoral theses and more than a hundred master's and undergraduate theses.
