UC3M, among the best universities worldwide

Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) holds the 311th spot in the new edition of QS World University Rankings,which classifies the 1000 top universities in the world. This year UC3M slightly improved its percentile,that is, its relative position with respect to the rest of the institutions appearing in the ranking, upon being included among the top 26.2% of the best universities in the world, compared to 27.9% in the previous edition.
UC3M is ranked as one of the top ten Spanish universities and it is noteworthy in its reputation among employers, human resources managers, and company CEOs for its academic reputation and for its student/faculty ratio. Additionally, it has bettered its positions in internationalization, going up 73 positions in attraction of international students, and 21 places in the proportion of international faculty at the institution.
Developed for the first time in 2004 by the British consultancy company Quacquarelli Symonds (QS),this ranking analyzes universities’ performance in four areas: teaching, employability, internationalization, and research.For this purpose, it is based on six indicators: institution academic reputation (40%), citations per researcher in academic publications (20%), student/faculty ratio(20%), reputation among employers (10%), proportion of international faculty at the institution (5%) and attraction of international students (5%).
The top spots at the global level are held by U.S. institutions, such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Stanford University and Harvard University. The most outstanding universities in Europe are the University of Oxford, the ETH-Zurich-Swiss Federal Institute of Technology and the University of Cambridge, among other institutions of higher learning.
