The UC3M launches a second CONEX-Plus Call for international researchers

The second CONEX-Plus Call from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) is opened until 29th February, 29th 2020, with the objective of attracting 10 international researchers with up to six years of postdoctoral research experience, to carry out projects in their respective areas of knowledge.
Overall, 30 fellows will be selected through the launch of two international public calls. In the frame of this project, the research staff will undertake an R+D+I three-year project in one of the UC3M’s 27 departments, with the support of a supervising lecturer from the University.
The subject of the project will be freely chosen from the materials and objectives defined in the Research and Innovation Strategy for Smart Specialisation (Estrategia de Innovación para una Especialización Inteligente) RIS3, of the Community of Madrid. The technological areas of the strategy are: Energy, Environment and Transport (including Aeronautics); Nanotechnology, Advanced Materials, Industrial and Space Technologies; Health, Biotechnology, Water and Agri-food; Information Technologies and Communications, as well as research in Social Sciences and Humanities that are applied to RIS3 fields. In the selection process, special attention will be paid to the interdisciplinary nature of the proposed suggestions.
CONEX-Plus is a professional training and development programme based on the “triple i” dimension: international, intersectoral and interdisciplinary. The fellows will be able to study modules dedicated to relevant transversal skills and training in the industry. The execution of the project should be complemented by a training stage, called secondment, of between 2 and 12 months in a high level non-academic organisation, such as a company, international body, NGO, etc. It can be proposed to be hosted by one of 14 partner entities from different sectors to carry out the aforementioned training stages. Special attention will also be paid to the communication of the programme and the results of the research to society.
CONEX-Plus is financed by the UC3M, the European Commission within the framework of the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions COFUND (GA 801538) of the Horizon 2020 European Framework Programme and Santander. This programme is one of the UC3M’s instruments for the achievement of the objectives considered in the Strategic Plan 2016-2022.
