This new edition was presented during the fourth THE Young Universities Summit, held on April 5th at the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia. The ranking has been developed taking into account thirteen performance indicators in areas such as teaching, research, international outlook and knowledge transfer.

For the first time, this ranking include a comparative analysis of higher learning institutions of different generations and a similar age. Along these lines, UC3M appears in the Top 50 of “Generation Y”, which assesses universities founded between 1986 and 1999 (UC3M was founded in 1989).

More than half (110) of the top 200 universities worldwide are located in Europe, with 22 countries represented. Countries with a greater number of institutions ranked among the top universities under 50 years old, the following are noteworthy: the United Kingdom (27), Australia (23), France (16), Spain (15), Germany (11) and Italy (10).
